About the Middle School Art Club & Exhibition
The Middle School Art Club was established by Community Education in February 2023 with grant funding support through the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council. The goal was to create an after school art club for students to explore art mediums, techniques, share common interests with peers and have fun while making art. Each art club session meets weekly after school. Additionally, open studio sessions are offered to provide the opportunity for students to pursue individual projects, increase access to art materials, and enjoy time with friends in the studio environment.
Students developed the concept for this exhibition, A Few of Our Favorite Things, so that they could depict their favorite things - places, creatures, foods, hobbies, animals, colors, as well as dive into their favorite art materials and techniques.
Over 90 works were created by Middle School Art Club students for this exhibition. Some works were completed through group collaboration and other pieces were created by individual artists.
Student Artists: Rylee Barber, Graysen Burton, Kaimana Evjen, Dominic Hackman, Harper Henson, Landon Hill, Layla Ihrke, Addison Lammert, Emily Lujan, Anais Michuki, Theodore Mills, Camrin Nelson, Kyler Rinn, Greta Schmitt, Sonia Segal, Baron Stotts, Dorothy Sutton, Addison Tye, and Ava Vinkemeier
