SUMMER ENROLLMENT APPLICATION (click here)
Project Kids may find it necessary to limit program enrollment and/or daily attendance due to potential space limitations, staff-to-child ratio requirements, field trip constraints, and/or other considerations. Submitting an application does NOT guarantee acceptance into PK’s summer session.
Existing accounts MUST be in good financial standing to be considered for enrollment, and all accounts MUST remain in good standing to continue utilizing PK’s child care services.
REGISTRATION PROCESS >> The enrollment period for Project Kids’ 2024 Summer Session will begin at 6:00 AM on Monday, April 1. Priority enrollment will be given to existing PK families through 11:59 PM on Wednesday, April 3; however, placement into the upcoming summer program is not guaranteed. If more applications are received than there are spots available, a “lottery” will occur on or before Monday, April 8 to place our existing families and to start a waiting list. “Existing” is defined as any family who used PK for a significant portion of time during Summer 2023 and/or School Year 2023-2024.
Considering the availability of spots, new families (and any existing families who submit their application(s) after April 3) will either be accepted into the program or be added to the waitlist on a first come, first served basis. We encourage ALL families to submit their child(ren)’s application(s) as soon as possible after registration begins on April 1.
Families who submit their application(s) by Friday, April 5 will be notified of their child(ren)’s enrollment status by Friday, April 12. Enrollment will of course continue past this time period if PK has not reached full capacity.
For families wishing to enroll more than one child into the program, please complete a separate application for each. For existing PK families, please be certain to notify us of any changes to your address, email, or phone numbers; emergency contacts; persons authorized to pick up; and/or child’s health information.
The summer session has an annual registration fee. However, please do NOT submit payment with your child’s application; if your child is accepted into the program, you will be charged the registration fee at that time and can pay during the first billing cycle.
Enrollment applications may be turned in at the Primary School or Intermediate School, or emailed to crystal.diercks@byron.k12.mn.us (BPS) or erin.born@byron.k12.mn.us (BIS).
IMPORTANT!! If your child is accepted into PK’s summer session, you will enter into a BILLING CONTRACT and will be REQUIRED TO PAY FOR A MINIMUM OF FOUR (4) DAYS PER WEEK—regardless if your child attends less days (excludes days PK is closed). Each child will be granted up to 4 free absent days for the summer; parents/guardians MUST notify the PK Program Coordinator when they wish to use each credit.

Submitting an application does NOT guarantee acceptance into PK’s school year program.
NEW PROCEDURE >> Available spots for each grade level will be initially filled through a “LOTTERY” system. A waiting list will be maintained for any grade level that reaches maximum capacity (the initial waitlist would be generated via lottery using the remaining enrollment applications).
To be included in the initial lottery, applications must be submitted to PK no later than Friday, June 23rd. Project Kids will conduct the lottery and notify families about whether or not their child was selected for the school year program by Friday, June 30th. Any child whose application is received after the initial lottery will be either, accepted into the program if space is available, or placed at the end of their grade’s waitlist.
For families wishing to enroll more than one child into the program, please complete a separate application for each. For existing PK families, please be certain to notify us of any changes to your address, email, or phone numbers; emergency contacts; persons authorized to pick up; and/or child’s health information.
The school year session has an annual registration fee. However, please do NOT submit payment for the fee with your child’s application; if your child is accepted into the program, you will be charged the registration fee at that time and can pay during the first billing cycle.
Enrollment applications may be dropped off at the Primary School or Intermediate School, or emailed to crystal.diercks@byron.k12.mn.us.
IMPORTANT!! If your child is accepted into the program and you selected the Before School and/or After School care options, you will enter into a BILLING CONTRACT and will be required to pay for a minimum of four (4) days per week throughout the school year—regardless if your child attends less days (excludes days PK is closed). If you selected the Non-School Days and/or Inclement Weather options, your account will be charged for each occurrence—regardless of attendance.

Submitting an application does NOT guarantee acceptance into PK’s Teddy Bears program.
There are a limited number of spots available for each of the child care options. Applications will be largely prioritized by preschool class selections, number of care days needed, and date/time received. If maximum capacity is reached, a waiting list will be generated.
For families wishing to enroll more than one child into the program, please complete a separate application for each.
The school year session has an annual registration fee; however, please do NOT submit payment for the fee with your child’s application. If your child is accepted into the program, the fee payment will be due within one week of your notice to hold your child's spot. Please make your check or money order payable to Byron Project Kids and turn it in at the CE office.
Please do NOT submit your child's application until you have received your child's Byron Preschool class confirmation from Community Education.
Applications may be turned in at the Community Education Center, 630 1st Avenue NW (drop-box available) or emailed to heather.zieman@byron.k12.mn.us.
IMPORTANT!! All preschoolers who are enrolled in the PK Teddy Bears Program must have a set schedule of anticipated attendance for the school year, via CONTRACT. Your child’s schedule/contract will be based on the child care option(s) and specific days you indicate on their enrollment application. Your pre-arranged contract will be used each week for billing purposes, regardless if your child attends or not (excludes days PK is closed).
