Registering for Preschool

Registration Opens on Friday, February 20th at 8 am!

All registration steps must be completed before a class placement is made.

Registrations received by March 6 will be notified on or before March 18. Byron residents who complete registration on or before March 6 will receive priority placement in our preschool classes.
After March 6, placements will be made based on class availability. You will receive a placement notification within 14 business days. Please note that the Community Education & Preschool Office is closed for Spring Break from March 19-29.
Application to PK's Teddy Bears Program for the 2026-27 school year will begin in March 18th. Documents and Enrollment Application for 26-27 will be available on the Project Kids Child Care Program Registration Page.
If you would like your child to start on the first day of Preschool - September 8th, please complete registration before Friday, August 14th. Any registrations received after August 14th will be processed as time permits and will not guarantee placement for the first day of Preschool.

If you do not already have a Class Registration account with Byron Community Education, please use this link if you need instructions to create one. Please be sure that your new preschooler is listed on your account with his or her age.

The Class Registration system is used for tuition billing and making payments. The system issues monthly invoices to families on the 28th of the month. You can also set up recurring payments before school starts so you never miss a tuition payment!

Pay $75 Registration Fee

This is the non-refundable Preschool Registration fee. It covers the administrative costs for processing registration and assigning class placements.

Early Childhood Screening

Every preschool student needs to have an Early Childhood Screening completed before or within 90 days of starting Preschool (for 2026-27, the 90-day deadline is December 6, 2026).

If not yet completed, please schedule an ECS appointment in Class Registration.

If you have completed an Early Childhood Screening in another district, please let us know which district completed the screening (email alyssa.humpal@byron.k12.mn.us).

Click here to learn more about screenings and how to set up an appointment if your child needs one. Children need to by 3 years old by the appointment date. Your child needs to complete the Early Childhood Screening one time.

What to expect after you complete registration

For Students Receiving Special Education Services

If your child is receiving early childhood special education services, you will need to complete the following registration items:

Online registration for the 2026-27 school year (see instructions below). Opens on February 20th.
Consult with the Early Childhood Special Education team to determine class options for your child.

Step 1:

Before you begin please gather the following:

Household information: address and phone numbers
Parent information: cell and work phone numbers, email addresses
Student information: health and medications
Emergency contacts: phone numbers (minimum 2)
Preschool registration: birth certificate and completed Immunization Form or a copy from your medical provider

- Please note that enrollment in Preschool does not guarantee enrollment in Kindergarten. Non-Resident Families must submit an application for open enrollment for Kindergarten.

Step 3:

Once your application has been submitted for enrollment into the Byron Public Schools, a staff member from the school will review and approve your application.
Watch your EMAIL for further notifications. (Also check your spam box if you have not received an email after you begin the process)
