A child is eligible to participate in a school readiness program if the child:

• is at least three years old on September 1 of that school year;
• has completed health and developmental screening (Early Childhood Screening) within 90 days of enrollment in the program
• is potty trained; our facilities do not offer changing tables nor are the staff trained to diaper children

Byron Preschool's 3 year old programs are all half day and run in the mornings. We have programs that meet for 2 and 3 days per week.

Byron Preschool offers a variety of programs for 4 year olds. We offer half day and full day programs. Programs meet between 2 and 5 times per week.

There are many things to consider when selecting a program and a few may include:

• Childcare: If you work with a child care provider, you will want to make sure that you are able to get your child transported to and from school. We do offer limited child care through Project Kids Teddy Bear Program.
• Nap: If your child regularly rests, an afternoon program may not be the best option for them. Half-day, morning programs that allow your child to leave school before nap time as well as our full day programs which provide a rest time would better meet a child's need.
• Price: The more times a class meets each week, the more the tuition is. All of the classes we offer are great and will support children's growth in social-emotional, physical and cognitive development. Pick an option that works for you financially.
• Experience: Do you want your child prepared for what kindergarten will feel like? Pick a full day program that allows children to experience many of the same routines that they will experience in kindergarten. If the goal is to expose your child to the classroom experience and allow them to become more comfortable at school, a half day may be a good option.
• Future preschool program: If you are planning to enroll your 4 year old for more than one year, we would encourage a 2 or three day program year one. Year two, pick a program that meets more often each week or meets for a full day vs a half day. While children who are 5 by September 1 for that school year are eligible to start kindergarten, we also understand that all children may not be ready for kindergarten and we offer programming that is open to children who are 4 or 5 by September 1 of that school year.

Current Preschool Programs

We believe in keeping our classrooms smaller in size when possible. There is always a licensed teacher as well as a program assistant when the classroom gets larger than 10 students.   Class size for the 3-year-old programs is limited to 14 students.  Class size for the 4-year-old programs is limited to 16 students.

Byron Preschool's tuition is due monthly. You are asked to pay each month's tuition by the middle of the month. For instance, your invoice for September's tuition will be emailed to you at the end of August and is due by the 15th of September. The total tuition cost is divided into 9 equal payments.

You can pay with cash in the Community Education Office. Checks made payable to Byron SR are accepted and we encourage you to write your child's name in the memo line. Finally, you are able to use major credit cards to pay online or in person. If you contact our office, we have the ability to setup a recurring payment for you so that you don't have to remember to pay monthly!

All scholarships given out by Byron Preschool are based on financial need. Minnesota Department of Education provides scholarships for early childhood programming, including Pathway I and II scholarships. We also receive grant funding through Olmsted County United Way to help qualifying families with the cost of tuition.
